Ooookay guys, I have a problem. If you could give some advice, that'd be great.

I got a new computer, but the mic isn't built in like it was on my other laptop. Before, I could just straight-up record in Audacity without using a mic and I would sound like I was using a mic. But hoo boy, this new laptop (which is an Asus Vivobook S200E-RHI3T73) isn't like that.

I tried recording a few lines for a chorus cover, but my voice came out really muffled and airy-sounding, like harmonies or background vocals, which means I'll have to order a mic before I can really do anything (I'm thinking about getting a Blue Yeti mic, but any other mic suggestions?).

Does anyone know of any possible ways to make my voice sound clearer in Audacity? I'm thinking the answer is probably no, but I just wanted to make sure before I go and order a mic.

I think buying a new mic would definently be the best choice, as it saves you and your mixer from a lot of work when there's no need to imporve really much your mic quality. However, I think there are some tutorials on YT how to improve mic quality in Audacity, look up something like 'How to make a recording sound professional in Audacity' or something~

But in the end, buying a better mic saves a lot of effort. Especially something like Blue Yeti, I've heard many people using it and they've been saying the quality is great!

I think you should just go buy a new mic.

Because in my opinion, the quality of your recording is pretty much what will show up in the final mix. The best thing you could do is put your mouth closer to the mic, but i don't really recommend that since it'll lead to clipping and air coming into the mic.

It will save you a lot of work too, like Taifuu said. The Blue Yeti is a nice choice :D
