Fair Usage For Project Diva PV's
Hey guys. I found an interesting statement from Sega relating to their games that suggests you CAN use any project diva series pv's and can translyric them under fair use.
Basically as far as I can see here translyricing the songs and redubbing them as long as you credit the copyright holders they don't see any issues as it's not slandering their work.
I'm wondering what you guys make of this.

It's worth noting that that's a statement by sega of America. I'm not suggesting that them and their Japanese counterparts have different policies, but sega is notorious for cracking down on YouTube videos copyright claims. I'd still use caution when working with PJD PVs. They didn't really say anything for sure, either, if you pay attention to the wording.
Anyways for the most part PJD PVs don't cover the entire song. So it might be safer - and more convenient - to use different PVs.

well that's what fair use is... as long as you state in full who owns it and not make money off it, there's usually no reason for them to take videos down even though they still have the rights to ask them to be removed.

Re: Fair Usage For Project Diva PV's
The argument of "Fair use" is only valid when you're either commenting on the work (parodies included) or using it to educate. Although putting credits and not making money off of it are some things the things courts/copyright holders consider before prosecuting someone, it doesn't exempt you from getting a strike or in worse cases a lawsuit. It really depends on the decision-maker.
What they're basically saying in their statement is "We don't usually take action but if it violates something that we hold dearly to, we will do something", so it's more of are you willing to take a risk to do it
