I don't have to buy a new mic.. do I? oAo;;

I have a problem. I'm using MacBook Pro 13" lately and I realize there's no plug for external mic. I've googled about it once, and someone said that it should be better to have a mic with USB port. b-but it's not possible for me to buy a new mic for some reasons oAo;;

what should I do? is there a way so I can use external mic?
(just in case if this information is needed--I use mic that sticks with headphone)

I really need help, like, right now T^T I have to submit my vocals to some auditions soon..

I have a 15" and I'm pretty sure there's a plug for a mic. It should be right next to the headphones.

well I don't know but really, there isn't any mic plug besides the headphones.
someone said that the plug can be used for both mic and headphones but it just can't read the mic ;~;

I also have a laptop and there are 3 inputs there below the touchpad. Nothing similar? Maybe the plugs are somewhere that you must remove a lid or something to find it?

I've checked my laptop from every angle and still can't find the other plug for mic
and I'm not really familiar with MacBook so I desperately need help~

Oh, I see, the 13 inch has a combined port.

It's possible that (assuming the jack on your mic fits) you just need to tell whatever software that it needs to be getting the audio from the mic. If the plug doesn't even fit, then you're pretty much out of luck

Eh... but I know someone who uses their onboard mic *it's a mac, of course XD*, and it sounds awesome. Give it a try. xD

@DijiDori : it doesn't have any problem with plugging the mic, but just.. my MacBook can't detect the external mic and I don't know how to fix it :s

Yup, the microphone your laptop has.

Have you checked what device your recording program is using for input? It might not be listening to whatever the microphone is plugged into. Also, have you checked in the system preferences to see if the mic is responding there? If you're plugging it into the audio jack I don't think it's an issue of not recognizing the hardware.

I've worked in Audacity back then when I was still using PC, and it's fine with the mic. yes I did check the system preferences, but no, it didn't.
